An update on the Ballylickey Trip coming up in early September – the Seaview House Hotel is fully booked now. 13 rooms have been reserved by JEC members. Anybody who has not yet booked and wants to stay will need to contact the hotel directly to have their name added to a waiting list.
The Classic Wheels Ireland Vintage 2022 Classic, Bike Run and Show is on May 28th and 29th in Youghal. At our AGM and Zoom meetings some members indicated that they plan to attend. The run is at 2pm on Saturday 28th, from Farrell’s Summerfield Bar. The static show is at 2pm on Sunday 29th, in the same location. JEC members coordinate meeting through the WhatsApp group if you wish.
We plan to meet for lunch at the Garryvoe Hotel on Sunday 3rd April, to eat at 1pm. This will be followed by our AGM, as part of which we will arrange the Calendar of Events for 2022. It’s the first opportunity we will have had to meet in person in quite some time, so we encourage as many members as possible to attend. We are looking forward to a good turn out!
We wish all of our members and friends of the Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club a very merry Christmas. We managed to get together a couple of times in 2021, when restrictions and common-sense allowed. Things will improve, and we’ll make the most of it as and when they do. Stay tuned to the website and Facebook page for updates.
One of our members recently received an email from An Post, regarding VAT and customs charges for online shopping outside the EU. Clearly it’s relevant to us when we order parts, tools and other materials for our cars from abroad, particularly in the light of Brexit. Here is the text of the email:Continue reading “Customs Implications for Non-EU Online Shopping”
Please be at Doneraile Court at 11.30am as parking will have to be arranged. As a result of Covid-19 restrictions only 4 people together can visit the house per hour. Our first group will be at 12 noon followed by 1pm, 2pm and 3pm, others may not wish to visit the house.
The restaurant/coffee shop is open and there are also toilet facilities. Please bring a picnic with you and fold up chairs if you have them. We plan to leave at approx. 4pm.
I look forward to meeting everyone after such a long time. Please be mindful of Covid-19 restrictions and that it is still with us. Fingers crossed we will have good weather and an enjoyable day.

Michael will be sending out a reminder text over the weekend, please respond with your attention to attend so as we can arrange the house viewings.
We will have our monthly meeting on Wednesday 27th January next, via Zoom as we have been doing for the last few months. I will sent out the meeting details to the regular attendees as usual. If you are a member, and you have not previously attended the Zoom meetings but would like to, please contact us at email@example.com.
We wish all of our members and friends of the Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club a very merry Christmas. After the ups-and-downs of 2020, we’re all hoping that 2021 will see some return of normality, although it looks like it will be the second half of the year before we can think about events where we meet up again. Stay tuned to the website and Facebook page, for any updates.
Our plans for this year have been driven way off course by Covid19, as you can see by our Calendar of Events. Our only remaining major event that might go ahead is the weekend in Ballylickey in September, and naturally that depends on what happens between now and then. We’ve talked about it in our fortnightly Zoom calls, and a suggestion was made that we do a day trip while the option appears available, and get our cars out for a bit of a run together once over the summer at least. The day trip is planned for Saturday 8th August, and we’ll be going to Gougane Barra National Forest Park. Keep an eye on the Calendar of Events, and more details will be added as we have them. In the meantime, stay safe!
In the absence of our monthly club meetings and our proposed outings for this year we decided to have Zoom meetings for informal chats every second Wednesday. Our first Zoom meeting was held on the 8th April which proved very successful so we decided to have another on the 22nd April and at that time we agreed to hold these meetings every two weeks. Our next meeting is Wednesday 6th may, the time is always 8pm and the duration is 45 minutes. One of our members expressed concern over the security of using Zoom and I have discussed this with our man Jonathan and while this has merit as security cannot be guaranteed we feel for the type of chat we are having it’s a good way of staying in touch with friends and members. Of course I wouldn’t suggest discussing bank details or personal matters!
I have in recent days been advised that the Terenure Car Show will not take place this year and of course the Dungarvan event also had to be cancelled. It seems Ballylickey will be our only event this year, I have had a number of calls from our friends in the IJDC expressing interest in the Ballylickey event so fingers crossed all will be well by then.
I hope you are all keeping well and looking after yourselves in these difficult times and especially those who are cocooning.
I look forward to chatting on the 6th May and this week along with our usual chat I have put together a quiz which I hope you will enjoy.
